What is AV / TL connector?

All HEINE 3.5V full size instruments and handles
are available in 2 connecting systems:

AV connector: HEINE's exclusive patented automatic connecting system. Positive locking mechanism ensures a secure connection between Instrument and handle

TL (Twist Lock) connector: Welch Allyn 3.5V style connecting system. All HEINE TL Instruments and Handles are compatible with Welch Allyn products.

Connecting System FAQs:

1. How do I specify which connector I want when ordering product?

As the AV Connector is a HEINE exclusive, our ordering system is based upon it. Should you wish to order your products with the Welch Allyn compatible TL connector please specify this when ordering your product an authorized HEINE Distributor. To distinguish between AV and TL products in our catalogs and on the website, Instruments and power sources with the TL connector have the suffix "TL" in their product number. For example, C-02.30.100 becomes C-02.30.100 TL with the TL connection system.

2. I have a HEINE Instrument but am not sure whether it is and AV or TL.

The simplest way to distinguish between AV and TL Instruments is to remove the Instrument from the handle and stand it up on a flat surface. TL products will stand up and AV product will not (see images above).

3. Replacement Bulbs.

Instruments with "TL" connectors often require different bulbs from those used in instruments with the patented Heine "AV" connector. Be sure to specify connecting system and Instrument model when ordering replacement bulbs.
